Research & Development: Product Pipeline
TheraCarb's vaccine program has generated a lead candidate, which is currently under evaluation in an immune impaired rabbit model of infection, at a contract research organization (CRO). This vaccine will be used to prevent yeast infections in immune-impaired patients. Systemic candidiasis is a system wide fungal infection that can be fatal in immune-impaired patients. Vaginal candidiasis is caused by the same yeast (Candida), however it is found to be more prevalent. TheraCarb's drug development program is advancing compounds to treat the underlying cause of amyloid diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. AA Amyloidosis is a system wide amyloid disease that is attributed to the same amyloid proteins as thought to cause Alzheimer's disease. Testing in transgenic mice and mice transplanted with human proteins are underway. Other pipeline technologies are exploratory in nature and will be advanced as appropriate. An exciting new technology to treat cancer is being developed in TheraCarb's laboratories. |
